Boards of school education in India

A Boards in India or School Committee is the title of the board of directors or board of trustees of a school, local school district or higher administrative level. The elected council helps determine educational policy in a small regional area, such as a city, county, state or province. It usually shares power with a larger institution, such as the government’s department of education. The name of the board is also often used to refer to the school system under the board’s control.

A Schools in India is an institution designed for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country, but generally include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education.

Broad of education in India are around 36. But primarily 4 boards of school education, namely

  •  IB(International Baccalaureate)

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education):

The CBSE is a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Government of India. The Government of India officially known as the Union Government, and also known as the Central Government. It is the most popular school board in India with over 9000 CBSE affiliated schools in the country and presence in 21 nations across the world.  The stress in this board is on application of Science and Math’s related subjects.

ICSE (Indian Certificate Secondary Education):

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is an examination conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations(ISCE), a private, non-governmental board of school education in India, for class 10.The examination allows secure suitable representation of Governments responsible for schools (which are affiliated to it) in their States/Territories. Private candidates are not permitted to appear for this examination.

State board:

As the name suggests, each state has its own board of education that conducts certificate examination for class 10 and class 12. Some state boards, such as Rajasthan board also conduct exams in class 8. The scores achieved in these exams are considered very important for getting into university, getting into professional courses or training programs, and even possibly in finding employment.

IB (International Baccalaureate):

The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is an international educational foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and founded in 1968. IB offers four educational programmes for children aged 3–19. The board is gaining prevalence in high end new schools in India. Currently limited to the metro and large Tier-I cites in India. As per them, their vision is on all round development of the student into an inquiring, caring and knowledgeable young individual. IB offers innovative learning program and teaching approaches to achieve its stated objective.
